The Be Good Scholarship Program: How it went, where we're going, and the future

As winter comes to a close, the snow begins to melt, and the colorful bounds of life begin to emerge from the earth, it is safe to say spring has sprung. For The Be Good Foundation, this winter was one of exceptional excitement, as we announced the first round of our scholarship program. The aim of this installment of the program was focused on off-season training and giving the opportunity to ride (indoors) with a community that is uplifting and unique.

Our first recipients were Alyssa Gonzalez and Gregg Deal, who were invited into the winter training program offered by BaseCamp, a training program Rebecca herself utilizes every winter to prepare mentally and physically for the season ahead.

Here is what Gregg and Alyssa had to say about their experiences.

Alyssa raved, "The Be Good Foundation's scholarship has been instrumental in my preparation for a packed summer of racing and bike events. As a new cyclist, being supported through the BaseCamp winter program training was invaluable! I am excited to get out on the trails and put all of my training to use -- and to be in great shape for my races and rides this season."

And Gregg's excitement is easily felt through his words, "I am grateful for the opportunity to do BaseCamp as winter months tend to be some of the most difficult for me. Accountability, challenges, and being able to not just maintain but build for the incoming new year, laying down the foundation to ride strong in 2022!"

Looking ahead, we have already started working on our scholarship program for the summer. This next round of scholarships is specifically focused on connecting with members from BIPOC, LGTBQ+, and para-cycling communities to Rebecca's world-renowned gravel race in Idaho, Rebecca's Private Idaho. The scholarship includes travel to and from Idaho, a bike and gear to use if the participant should need it, a training program through BaseCamp, and lodging.

We are currently accepting applications for this scholarship. If you or someone you know would be a good fit, please email begood@rebeccarusch.com for information on how to apply.
