Who is Gnar Nights?
Gnar Nights is a free, community-driven outdoor film and storytelling series founded by Kendall McCormick, a Lake Tahoe native who grew up immersed in ski culture at Palisades Tahoe. Inspired by the golden era of outdoor film screenings, Kendall launched Gnar Nights to bring that same energy back — gathering the outdoor community around great films and even better stories.
Each event features short outdoor films paired with an open mic, where attendees are invited to share personal stories around a themed prompt. What started as a one-time event in Denver, CO grew into a multi-month series, drawing skiers, snowboarders, kayakers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. Events are always free, always stoke-filled, and often tied to a cause — with a portion of donations going to conservation and outdoor advocacy organizations.
Gnar Nights is for anyone who loves the outdoors, believes in the power of storytelling, and wants to connect with a community that lives for the gnar.

The Blood Road film
Released in 2017 with Red Bull Media House, the Emmy Award-winning film Blood Road follows the journey of ultra-endurance mountain bike athlete Rebecca Rusch and her Vietnamese riding partner, Huyen Nguyen, as they pedal 1,200 miles along the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail through the dense jungles of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Their goal: to reach the crash site and final resting place of Rebecca's father, a U.S. Air Force pilot shot down over Laos some 40 years earlier. During this poignant voyage of self-discovery, the women push their bodies to the limit while learning more about the historic "blood road" they’re pedaling and how the Vietnam War shaped their lives in different ways.
Rebecca's deeply personal quest to find her father and his guiding words, "Be good," ultimately became the genesis for a global mission: a call to action for all who desire to live with purpose, explore with passion, and create lasting change. Rebecca's Be Good™ Foundation, a 501c3 organization officially founded in 2019, is committed to enriching communities using the bicycle as a catalyst for healing, empowerment, and evolution.
